On Friday, I spent the day with my friend Ella, and we went to Brio’s for lunch. I brought my journal to share with her, though a little reluctantly, and she was wonderful. She looked at every page with reverent eyes. Watching her as she looked at this oh so personal part of me, I realized how safe it is to share this with her.
I just got this email from her:
”Thank you for sharing your journal. Even though I did not read any entries, the journal screamed that it belongs to Glenda! You have put so much loving care and time into it that I am inspired. I love seeing women express their creativity – and in the process express their spirit!”
As I read this, I was filled with validation, and with knowing that it’s important to share this part of myself. Every time I collage, I open myself up…putting images and words in this journal that express my deep parts, my thoughtful parts, and even my darkest parts. Somehow by sharing this, I feel stronger, and I feel the pieces of this puzzle that is me, moving closer together. Makes me smile…
